Database Platform Engineering Manager

Location: United States, remote; up to 5% travel may be required.

Base salary: $242,250–$275,000 annually, plus equity eligibility for full-time employees.

What you will do

• Lead and grow the Database Platform team of approximately eight engineers, including a Principal Engineer.
• Define data platform architecture, schema standards, query patterns, migration strategies, and scalability principles.
• Own database availability, query latency, data integrity, SLOs, on-call maturity, and operational runbooks.
• Establish data modeling and schema review governance as new penetration-testing capabilities are delivered.
• Partner with Data Ingestion, Security Research, and API Platform teams on data contracts, APIs, and pipeline dependencies.
• Act as product owner for the data platform roadmap, translating research and product needs into priorities.

Requirements

• Experience leading teams that design, scale, and operate PostgreSQL and hybrid data stores in production.
• Experience with zero-downtime schema migrations, multi-tenant architectures, customer data isolation, row-level security, and data residency.
• Strong database performance expertise, including query optimization, indexing, EXPLAIN analysis, and connection pooling.
• Deep proficiency in Go, Python, or SQL.
• Production PostgreSQL experience with partitioning, logical replication, connection pooling, and read replicas.
• Experience with AWS data services and Kubernetes-based containerized database operations.

Nice to have

• Experience with graph or time-series databases such as Neo4j, AWS Neptune, TimescaleDB, or InfluxDB.
• Background in cybersecurity data, threat intelligence, or vulnerability databases.
• Experience with SOC 2, FedRAMP, GDPR, or CCPA data handling requirements.
• Experience with OLAP workloads, customer-facing analytics, or multi-region database configurations.
