Senior Machine Learning Engineer (NLP/LLM)

Location: United Kingdom; remote in the US or hybrid in New York City

What you will do

• Design, train, and deploy machine learning and LLM systems for NLP and document intelligence.
• Deliver production solutions for information extraction, text generation, summarization, AI agents, search, and document analysis.
• Build scalable pipelines for model training, evaluation, deployment, and ongoing production operations.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and metrics for quality, accuracy, reliability, drift, and bias.
• Optimize model performance and resource utilization through experimentation, model selection, and tuning.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, legal, data, and security partners to deliver AI capabilities for sensitive information.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in machine learning, computer science, statistics, or a related quantitative field with an ML/AI focus.
• 3+ years of experience in ML engineering, applied ML, research engineering, or related software engineering.
• Hands-on experience building, training, and deploying models into production.
• Strong experience with NLP, modern LLM architectures, and fine-tuning models for specialized domains.
• Advanced Python and hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience designing evaluation methods and metrics for production ML systems, with strong technical communication skills.

Nice to have

• PhD in machine learning, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
• Experience operating ML or LLM systems at scale and self-hosting LLMs.
• Legal tech, legal NLP, financial services, economics, or other regulated and data-sensitive industry experience.
• Experience optimizing compute efficiency and taking complex ML initiatives from research to production.
