Applied AI Engineer (Clinical Development)

Location: London, UK; hybrid policy requires staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time

What you will do

• Partner with nonprofits, research institutes, academic medical centres, and public-sector funders on clinical development for rare and neglected diseases.
• Design, review, and prioritise clinical trials using Claude, including protocols and statistical analysis plans.
• Identify enrolment and operational risks that can delay trial execution and site start-up.
• Build and validate tools for drug repurposing using literature, omics, and patient data.
• Develop reusable MCP servers, agent skills, and benchmarks grounded in real clinical questions.
• Share field learnings with product, engineering, and research teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience in a relevant field.
• Hands-on experience designing, running, analysing, or assessing clinical trials and clinical evidence.
• Comfort working with literature, omics, and real-world patient data in secure or trusted research environments.
• Strong engineering skills, including taking LLM-powered tools from prototype to production and writing evaluations.
• Experience working directly with external partners or customers in a technical role.
• Clear written and verbal communication, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to work across multiple functions.

Nice to have

• Experience with drug repurposing.
• Experience contributing to a regulatory submission for a clinical trial.
