Infrastructure Engineer (AI)

Location: Cambridge, UK; hybrid working with attendance at the Cambridge office once every two weeks

Salary: £55,000–£70,000 per year, dependent on experience

What you will do

• Provision, operate, and improve physical, virtual, and cloud-based infrastructure.
• Manage local networks, including WiFi, switches, firewalls, and internet connections.
• Administer identity platforms such as Active Directory, ADFS, Entra, SSO, and MFA, alongside Windows and Linux environments.
• Use PowerShell and other scripting to automate infrastructure operations and reduce manual work.
• Monitor systems, troubleshoot incidents, test backups, and support reliable recovery.
• Act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and vulnerabilities in collaboration with suppliers, support teams, and the Security Manager.

Requirements

• Strong experience designing, operating, or supporting traditional infrastructure across networking, virtualization, storage, and Windows server administration.
• Experience with core Windows services and infrastructure troubleshooting across network, compute, storage, and operating system layers.
• Scripting skills for task automation, problem-solving, and improving operational repeatability.
• Experience working in operational environments where availability, resilience, and effective incident response are important.
• AI fluency and the ability to use AI tools to diagnose problems and deliver work.
• Sound judgement, system ownership, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
