Actuary - Risk Management (Insurance)

Location: London; primarily in the office

What you will do

• Conduct independent reviews of selected policyholder liabilities and high-priority pricing and underwriting models.
• Review claims and premium data quality across property and casualty insurance lines.
• Build benchmark reserving models and design statistical tests to challenge model assumptions, segmentation, trends, loss development factors, and model specifications.
• Assess model documentation, controls, data, validation, and technical specifications under the Model Risk Management Policy.
• Research reserving methodologies and obtain external data to support reserve analysis and emerging-risk assessments.
• Present review findings and risk insights to actuarial, finance, underwriting, Enterprise Risk Management, and governance committees.

Requirements

• Degree in mathematics or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in actuarial and/or risk management, ideally within a property and casualty insurer or reinsurer.
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge of insurance-market risk drivers.
• Ability to build relationships across actuarial, claims, underwriting, economics, and other functions.
• Ability to maintain an independent perspective, challenge risk-related decisions, and communicate complex matters clearly.
