Risk Manager – Assurance & Insights

What you will do

• Lead targeted assurance reviews, deep dives, and thematic assessments across material Life non-financial risk themes.
• Analyse issues, events, RCSAs, control outcomes, and other risk information to identify recurring or systemic concerns.
• Assess control design, operating effectiveness, remediation effectiveness, risk appetite positions, and management responses.
• Develop evidence-based risk opinions and governance outputs for Executive and Board audiences.
• Coordinate cross-business reviews involving Non-Financial Risk and Compliance specialists.
• Coach Senior Analysts in assurance techniques, critical analysis, and opinion writing.

Requirements

• Significant experience in Operational Risk, Non-Financial Risk, Risk Assurance, or related control disciplines within financial services.
• Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, governance, regulatory expectations, and control environments.
• Experience leading assurance reviews, thematic assessments, deep dives, independent challenge, root-cause analysis, and remediation reviews.
• Ability to identify recurring themes, systemic weaknesses, and emerging risks from complex information.
• Strong stakeholder management, analytical, written communication, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assurance activities and competing priorities in a regulated environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in life insurance, pensions, or wealth sectors.
• Experience developing assurance methodologies, review standards, or quality frameworks.
• Experience using data analytics for assurance and risk insight.
• Experience supporting business change, transformation, or strategic initiatives from a risk perspective.
• Relevant professional qualification such as IRM, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, IIA, or CII.
