Cost Business Partner – Commercial Banking (12-month FTC)

Location: Bristol or Edinburgh, United Kingdom; hybrid working with at least two days per week or 40% of working time in an office

What you will do

• Act as a trusted Finance partner and key contact for leadership teams across Business & Commercial Banking and Corporate & Institutional Banking.
• Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, performance analysis, and cost management activities.
• Challenge business plans, forecasts, investment proposals, and workforce planning decisions.
• Provide insight into cost allocations, risks, opportunities, and the impact of distributed costs on performance.
• Translate complex financial data into clear recommendations, narratives, and actions for senior partners and governance forums.
• Drive cost efficiency, operational improvement, reporting automation, and informed investment decisions.

Requirements

• Qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong business partnering skills and experience building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Experience in financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance management within a large and complex organisation.
• Strong commercial awareness, financial acumen, analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and financial storytelling.
• Experience driving cost efficiency, operational improvement, and performance enhancement initiatives.
• Ability to work in a hybrid pattern from the Bristol or Edinburgh offices at least two days per week or 40% of working time.

Nice to have

• Strong Excel skills and experience with Power BI, Power Query, SmartView, Oracle, or similar financial planning and reporting systems.
• Experience with workforce planning, investment appraisal, and business case development.
• Experience implementing process automation or reporting improvements.
• Experience in a large financial services organisation.
