Early Careers - Underwriting Intern (Healthcare)

Location: Hybrid role based in Chicago, Illinois or Richardson, Texas; flex employees are expected to work in the office at least three days per week. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Base pay range: $19.13–$34.17.

What you will do

• Learn underwriting principles and procedures for evaluating risk in renewals and new employer-sponsored healthcare business.
• Assist with financial analysis of customer benefit designs, pricing negotiations, and financial settlements.
• Research and analyze data to develop recommendations for business decisions.
• Own assigned project components and deliverables with guidance from a mentor and manager.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to support initiatives that improve business and member outcomes.
• Prepare and deliver a final internship presentation covering the project, results, and recommendations.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree, preferably as a rising senior in a business-related field; other majors may be considered.
• Expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Practical PC skills, especially Excel and Word, plus basic mathematics and work-management skills.
• Available for the full 10-week program and authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
