Provider Contracting Manager (Healthcare)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, with a 3-day-per-week in-office hybrid schedule

Salary: $92,000–$153,300 annual salary, depending on experience and geographic location; eligible for an annual bonus plan.

What you will do

• Manage complex fee-for-service and value-based reimbursement negotiations with hospitals, ancillary providers, and large physician groups.
• Develop provider networks, strategic contracting initiatives, and value- and risk-based arrangements for an assigned Illinois territory.
• Build and maintain strategic provider relationships while identifying opportunities to improve medical cost and quality.
• Analyze financial impacts of complex contracts and alternative contract terms, including unit cost targets and reimbursement methodologies.
• Create, implement, and maintain provider agreements in collaboration with Claims Operations, Medical Management, Legal, Compliance, Sales, and other matrix partners.
• Resolve complex provider service issues and provide guidance to less experienced specialists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Healthcare, Business, or a related field; significant industry experience may substitute. MBA or MHA preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in complex contracting and negotiations involving healthcare delivery systems and organizations.
• Experience developing and managing key provider relationships and understanding hospital, managed care, and provider business models.
• Knowledge of complex reimbursement methodologies, including incentive-based models, plus financial analysis and contract-language skills.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, negotiation, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced matrix organization.
