Principal Electrical Engineering Specialist (Industrial Electrical Equipment)

Location: Louisiana, United States; travel across North America up to 25%.

What you will do

• Provide technical support for high-voltage distribution equipment, motors, generators, and other electrical systems at company-owned industrial facilities.
• Coordinate vendor repairs for high-voltage motors and equipment and issue repair reports for critical jobs.
• Identify engineered solutions to recurring electrical problems and improve plant reliability through trending and maintenance procedures.
• Lead and participate in root cause analyses and execute predictive and preventive maintenance strategies.
• Review and approve engineering documents for plant upgrade projects and ensure compliance with internal and national standards.
• Train, coach, and mentor electrical technicians and operations staff in safe equipment operation and preventive maintenance.

Requirements

• Experience operating and maintaining large industrial plants.
• Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
• 6–8 years of experience as a qualified electrical worker in an industrial facility.
• Proficiency programming protective relays and integrating event information, including SEL and GE Multilin systems.
• Proficiency creating safe work permits and high-voltage lockout/tagout orders.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with SKM Power Tools for Windows or ETAP.
• Experience specifying, reviewing, and approving substations, transformers, motors, generators, motor control centers, variable-frequency drives, station batteries, and UPS systems.
