Senior Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Cardiff, London, or remote within the UK; distributed working within the UK is supported, with ad hoc meetings in London. Relocation to the UK is supported.

Salary: £105,000–£135,000 annually, plus performance-based incentive awards.

hirify.global builds digital banking products including personal and business accounts, savings, investments, pensions, credit products, payments, and financial crime prevention tools.

What you will do

• Build and support backend services for a specific part of hirify.global’s banking platform.
• Collaborate in a cross-functional squad with product, design, research, mobile, web, data, and operations specialists.
• Design and develop resilient software for distributed systems.
• Work across banking, payments, platform, security, financial crime, data, and other product areas.
• Contribute to customer-focused, data-informed product decisions.

Requirements

• Strong experience working on the backend of a technology product.
• Interest in distributed systems and resilient software.
• Experience with at least one strongly typed language such as Go, Java, C, or Scala.
• Comfort working with ambiguity and a product mindset focused on customer outcomes.
• Ability to work from within the UK and attend occasional meetings in London.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, Envoy Proxy, AWS, GCP, or React.
• Interest in machine learning and AI applications in banking and financial crime.
