Environmental Chemist Laboratory Technician - Chemistry

Location: Onsite in Oregon, United States; the posting references the Corvallis laboratory and Salem, Oregon client office.

Salary: $45,785.00–$77,835.00 per year for full-time employment.

What you will do

• Prepare and analyze soil, water, air, waste, and tissue samples for chemical contaminants.
• Perform inorganic chemistry analyses, primarily including acid digestion and metals determination.
• Operate ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and other laboratory instrumentation.
• Apply USEPA-approved methods across Drinking Water, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and Superfund programs.
• Follow NELAC 2016 standards and laboratory quality assurance procedures.
• Work independently and collaboratively within the environmental services assistance team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field.
• U.S. citizenship is required under the federal contract.
• Ability to pass an EPA background check and obtain access to U.S. federal property.
• Strong verbal, interpersonal, written communication, and critical-thinking skills.
• Physical ability to lift 40 pounds, use ladders, and work at elevated heights in accordance with safety standards.

Nice to have

• Bench-level laboratory experience using EPA-approved methodologies and experience in paperless laboratories.
• Experience with ICP-OES, ICP-MS, acid digestion, SW846, TCLP, in vitro bioaccessibility, or Cal WET.
• Hands-on experience with CVAA, TDAA, ion chromatography, TOC, or FIA instrumentation.
• Experience with TNI or NELAC-accredited environmental laboratories or federal facilities.
• Experience using LIMS, including Promium’s Element LIMS.
