Senior Scientist Toxicology

Location: Hybrid: 3 days in office and 2 days remote per week; based in Pleasanton, CA or Durham, NC, USA

Salary: $91,200–$210,000 annually, depending on location and zone

What you will do

• Develop and execute strategic product safety programs aligned with scientific evidence, regulatory expectations, and business objectives.
• Lead safety assessments, risk characterization, issue management, and product stewardship activities across the product lifecycle.
• Serve as the toxicology expert for assigned product categories and translate complex scientific and regulatory information into business recommendations.
• Assess emerging global regulatory, toxicological, environmental, and chemical sustainability trends.
• Partner with Product Development, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Supply Chain, Legal, and Marketing teams.
• Improve safety assessment methods, risk management frameworks, predictive capabilities, and scientific decision-making tools.

Requirements

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Toxicology or a related field.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in toxicology or a related discipline.
• Experience with consumer products, chemicals, household products, personal care, agricultural chemistry, pharmaceuticals, or other regulated industries.
• Experience developing data for registration with regulatory agencies such as the EPA or FDA.
• Strong scientific, strategic, communication, project leadership, and cross-functional influencing skills.
• Travel may be required at approximately 5–10%.

• Experience interacting with regulatory agencies, industry groups, or external scientific organizations.
• Experience with international regulatory and safety frameworks.
• Experience with AI-enabled tools, predictive toxicology, scientific informatics platforms, data analytics, or enterprise product stewardship systems.
