Lead Data Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote within the United States, except Hawaii; virtual-first work with occasional all-company in-person events once or twice a year.

Salary: $174K–$224K annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, operation, and evolution of production data pipelines and core platform capabilities.
• Build integrations across APIs, files, change data capture, event sources, cloud services, and internal systems.
• Establish patterns for data modeling, orchestration, testing, data quality, observability, retries, backfills, and recovery.
• Improve Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow/Cloud Composer workloads for reliability, scalability, performance, and cost.
• Lead technical design reviews and guide architecture and delivery trade-offs.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen standards, documentation, and durable engineering practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software or data engineering experience with significant ownership of production data systems.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, plus software engineering fundamentals including testing, code review, version control, and CI/CD.
• Experience with a modern cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Experience with Airflow/Cloud Composer, dbt, or comparable orchestration and transformation technologies.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, incremental processing, data quality, observability, and production recovery.
• Architecture judgment, technical leadership, mentorship, and the ability to communicate technical and business trade-offs clearly.

Nice to have

• Fintech or other high-stakes or regulated data experience.
• CDC, streaming, event-driven, or high-volume integration experience.
• Experience with GCP technologies such as Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage.
• Experience with metadata, lineage, semantic layers, governance, privacy, or AI-ready data platforms.
