Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, Bay Area, California, United States

Salary: $198,000–$297,000 USD annually for Zone A locations; other U.S. zones range from $168,300–$252,500.

What you will do

• Lead the creation and optimization of data models for event, customer, and process-level data.
• Standardize business and product metrics in curated datasets and maintain data dictionaries and documentation.
• Build data-quality and lineage monitoring, including AI agents for false-positive reduction and automated resolution.
• Participate in on-call rotation, monitor pipeline execution, diagnose issues, and resolve business-critical failures to meet SLAs.
• Translate business and product requirements into automated end-to-end data solutions with non-technical partners.

Requirements

• 10+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 8+ years with a Master’s degree, or equivalent experience.
• High proficiency in SQL, Python, and dbt.
• Experience designing medium-to-large data engineering solutions across scoping, design, development, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Experience with ETL scheduling and dependency checking using Airflow, Prefect, or similar technologies.
• Experience with schema design, dimensional data modeling, data-quality monitoring, and data-lineage monitoring.
• Experience using AI and agentic automation to support data-driven decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting compliance, risk, financial-crime detection, or reporting data products.
• Experience working with Snowflake, Databricks, Omni, Terraform, and GitHub.
