Lead Data Engineer (AI)

Location: New York City, NY; must be able to work in-office 3–4 days per week

Salary: $170,000–$220,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.

hirify.global is modernizing U.S. B2B card payments infrastructure for commercial fleets through a fleet and fuel card built on a digital spend management platform.

What you will do

• Own standards and patterns for data ingestion, warehouse usage, modeling, and data consumer workflows.
• Build a data catalog, semantic layer, and other capabilities that make data discoverable and accessible across the company.
• Define data security standards, including tokenization, role-based access control, and row-level security.
• Develop patterns for reverse ETL and safely exposing data to AI agents.
• Lead and mentor a horizontal data engineering team while helping product engineering teams build DDD-based data products.
• Write Python data pipelines, CI/CD pipelines for data products, and dbt data tests.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience across ETL/ELT, orchestration, data warehouses, columnar stores, BI tooling, and SQL optimization.
• Experience with Redshift or Snowflake, Dagster or comparable pipeline tools, dbt, and medallion architecture.
• Proficiency in Python and experience building data pipelines and data products.
• Experience leading horizontal data engineering teams and collaborating with analytics and product engineering teams.
• Experience mentoring data engineers and colleagues who work with data products.
• Must be based in New York City and able to work in-office 3–4 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience making data accessible to AI agents and enabling nontechnical users to work with data through AI tools.
• Experience establishing data security, warehouse cost management, data catalogs, and semantic layers.
