Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (DevOps)

Location: Hybrid in Austin or San Francisco, United States. Regular on-site presence at customer offices is required, and offer-stage candidates may be asked to attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

Salary: $194,000–$266,000 annual salary for Bay Area-based hires. Compensation may vary by work location.

What you will do

• Lead the planning, provisioning, validation, and production handover of new compute capacity for a strategic customer.
• Define acceptance criteria and validation workflows covering burn-in, benchmarking, health checks, compute, storage, networking, hardware, firmware, and diagnostics.
• Ensure build, configuration, security, observability, monitoring, alerting, and runbook standards are established before production launch.
• Coordinate infrastructure, hardware, data center, supply chain, network, and customer engineering teams across capacity delivery and operational readiness.
• Develop production-quality automation and tooling for provisioning, validation, fleet management, capacity forecasting, incident response, and reliability improvements.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for the customer, guide infrastructure strategy, and communicate operational feedback to hirify.global product and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Experience in infrastructure engineering, SRE, or production engineering for large-scale production systems.
• Practical experience bringing server capacity online, including provisioning, imaging, configuration management, and fleet lifecycle management.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and networking, including TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, load balancing, and data center topologies.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Rust and experience with infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Salt.
• Experience with mission-critical services, on-call rotations, incident response, SLO management, monitoring, metrics, and logging.
• Ability to coordinate complex multi-team delivery efforts and communicate with senior technical and executive stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with GPUs or specialized accelerators, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, or ClickHouse.
• Background at a hyperscaler, cloud provider, or large-scale data center.
• Experience in customer-embedded or partner-facing infrastructure roles.
• Experience with hirify.global’s platform and network architecture.
• Technical writing, mentoring, open-source contributions, or community presentations.
