IT Ops Engineer (Employee Technology)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; office-based 5 days a week. Supports Discord employees across EMEA and serves as the coverage anchor for European hours.

What you will do

• Establish IT operations for the Lisbon office and wider EMEA region, including physical technology, vendors, ISPs, and operating processes.
• Own identity and access, Mac and Windows endpoint management, corporate networking, SaaS, collaboration tools, meeting rooms, and office AV.
• Automate and integrate IT systems using vendor APIs, scripts, and no-code or low-code workflows.
• Manage regional onboarding and offboarding so employees receive equipment and access on day one and are deprovisioned on exit.
• Provide coverage during European hours, maintain documented handoffs with San Francisco, and participate in on-call rotations.
• Identify recurring operational issues, automate them, and measure improvements in saved time and reduced risk.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience managing IT systems in high-growth technology companies.
• Hands-on experience across employee technology, with depth in several areas including Okta, Jamf, Intune, wireless networking, DNS/DHCP, VPN, Zero Trust access, Google Workspace, collaboration tools, and meeting-room AV.
• Experience operating independently through ambiguity and standing up IT capabilities from scratch.
• Ability to write working automation scripts, particularly in Python, and build no-code or low-code workflows.
• Excellent written communication, async working discipline, business-problem focus, collaboration, and secure-by-design judgment.

• Working knowledge of GDPR and EU data-protection expectations.
