Director of Engineering, Brokerage Platform (Fintech)

Location: Menlo Park, CA; in-person attendance expected 5 days per week

Base pay: $294,000–$345,000 USD per year, plus bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the engineering strategy and delivery for Market Data & Symbology, Trading Platform, Clearing, and Brokerage Infrastructure.
• Lead and develop a large organization of senior and staff engineers and engineering managers.
• Drive platform modernization, reliability, scalability, technical debt reduction, stack rewrites, sharding, multi-region scaling, and infrastructure abstractions.
• Partner with product and technical program leadership to prioritize requests from trading, crypto, active trader, and event contract teams.
• Own the operational health of continuously running, market-critical systems and lead preparedness for high-severity incidents.
• Represent the platform roadmap, dependencies, and capabilities to product, operations, and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software engineering experience and 6+ years in engineering leadership, including experience as a Director or Senior Director.
• Deep experience directing foundational backend platforms and large, multi-team engineering organizations.
• Strong background in distributed systems, backend services at scale, Go or Python, and cloud infrastructure; AWS is preferred.
• Experience driving major platform modernization investments and delivering measurable business outcomes.
• Experience leading teams through major incidents in high-severity, always-on environments.
• Financial services, trading, brokerage, crypto, or other high-criticality platform experience is a strong advantage.

Nice to have

• Depth in market data, clearing, order execution, or brokerage infrastructure.
• Experience in fintech, trading, crypto, or large-scale consumer technology organizations.
