TL;DR
Medicare Stars Senior Data Scientist (Healthcare): Analyzing healthcare claims, clinical outcomes, quality measures, provider performance, and member data to improve Medicare Star Ratings with an accent on statistical analysis, machine learning, predictive modeling, and healthcare analytics. Focus on designing experiments, validating predictive algorithms against real-world results, building visualizations and analytical applications, and translating findings into quality improvement decisions.

Location: Fully remote within the continental United States, excluding California, New York, Alaska, and Hawaii

Base pay: $92,700–$167,500 per year, with eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

  • Apply advanced mathematical and statistical methods to complex business and healthcare problems.
  • Collect, integrate, and analyze claims, clinical outcomes, quality measures, provider performance, member outcomes, and internal process data.
  • Develop and validate predictive algorithms using machine learning, statistical modeling, and probabilistic methods.
  • Design experiments and analytical methodologies, and create visualizations and analytical applications.
  • Translate findings into recommendations for Medicare Stars performance, quality improvement initiatives, affordability, and member outcomes.
  • Partner with clinical, pharmacy, customer experience, product, and operations teams on cross-functional decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of relevant quantitative experience, a master’s degree plus 2 years, a Ph.D., an actuarial credential, or 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in at least four areas: data analysis and relational-style query languages, machine learning or statistical modeling, data visualization, high-level programming, distributed computing, and healthcare.
  • Experience with statistical or data-mining methods, including propensity score modeling, multivariate regression, or machine learning.
  • Experience with SAS, Dataiku, R, and/or Python.
  • Understanding of healthcare data and healthcare delivery processes, including claims, utilization, and provider information.
  • Must be based in the United States; sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative field, or a bachelor’s degree with significant healthcare experience.
  • Experience with diverse healthcare data, including EHR, demographic, pharmacy, laboratory, biometric, genomic, or text data.
