Senior Compensation Consultant (Financial Services)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota; employees work in the office at least four days per week and may work from home one day per week.

Base salary: $107,000–$147,100 per year, with potential variable pay through bonuses, commissions, and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary compensation consultant for assigned business areas and partner with business leaders and HR teams.
• Advise on hiring, promotions, organizational changes, career progression, and retention.
• Conduct market pricing, competitive analyses, and workforce trend analysis using survey data and industry benchmarks.
• Recommend pay positioning and compensation structures that balance competitiveness, internal equity, and business needs.
• Lead or support compensation planning, pay program reviews, job evaluations, career framework initiatives, and process improvements.
• Prepare decision-focused analyses and presentations for senior leaders and provide guidance on compensation philosophy, policies, and pay decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in compensation, total rewards, HR consulting, or a related field.
• Strong business acumen and experience advising leaders on complex workforce issues.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-influencing skills.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
• Valid U.S. work authorization without current or future visa sponsorship requirements.

Nice to have

• Compensation consulting experience in financial services or another complex, highly regulated industry.
• Experience with market pricing, salary structures, job evaluation, compensation surveys, and HR technology.
• Experience supporting leaders through organizational growth and change.
• Certified Compensation Professional designation.
