Test Lab Engineer

Location: On-site in Red Wing, Minnesota and Cottage Grove, Minnesota, United States; at least four days per week at hirify.global facilities. Domestic travel may be required up to 5%. Relocation assistance is not authorized. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship.

Expected compensation: $98,964–$120,957 annually, including base pay and variable incentive pay if eligible.

What you will do

• Collaborate with test laboratory supervisors, testing teams, and engineers to define requirements and execute successful tests.
• Develop, improve, maintain, and validate robust, repeatable test methods.
• Manage laboratory equipment activities, including maintenance, repair, calibration, instrumentation, training, and troubleshooting.
• Support equipment planning, fixture development, data acquisition programming, software updates, and expansion of test capabilities.
• Lead laboratory improvement projects and new method development aligned with accreditation scope and revised standards.
• Document standard work, safety standards, measurement outputs, calculations, and reporting processes while supporting ISO 17025 compliance and regulatory audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline.
• At least one year of experience with test method development or instrumentation.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and safe laboratory work practices.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards, particularly ISO 17025 and fall-protection standards.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, communication, and prioritization skills.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Experience defining technical requirements, developing project plans, managing priorities, and contributing to strategic planning.
• Experience working through change and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
