Engineering Test Technician (Marine Propulsion): Supporting the design, testing, and development of high-performance outboard and sterndrive propulsion systems through dynamometer facilities, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems with an accent on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, test system maintenance, and technical analysis. Focus on maintaining AVL Dyno facilities, managing data logger hardware and software, analyzing component failures, and improving engine development and competition testing capabilities.
Location: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, United States; onsite. Travel is occasionally required for remote testing, Competition Series events across the United States, and week-long job-related training.
Salary: $62,800–$90,500 annually, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do
- Support the design, testing, and development of Mercury Racing outboard and sterndrive propulsion systems.
- Maintain and manage AVL Dyno test facilities, including upgrades, long-term projects, and monthly calibrations.
- Source, prepare, and manage instrumentation for engine development testing and Competition Series programs.
- Manage data logger hardware, software, and instrumentation for internal development and competition testing.
- Update software, PCs, firmware, and AVL PUMA systems while coordinating with IT on security compliance.
- Work with external suppliers to quote and order testing equipment.
Requirements
- Ability to read complex control system diagrams and system I/O requirements and integrate instrumentation.
- Ability to work independently on special, unique, and non-routine projects.
- Ability to interpret data, analyze component failures, and recommend component or system changes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, hand-tool proficiency, electronic circuit soldering skills, and ability to perform light machine repair.
- Associate of Applied Science degree in Mechatronics, Computer Science, or an equivalent qualification.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
Nice to have
- Five years of experience with dynamometer test systems.
- Experience with AVL PUMA, IndiCOM, Concerto, and combustion measurement analysis.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar design software.
