Manager, Software Engineering

What you will do

• Lead, coach, hire, onboard, and develop software engineers, including employees and contractors.
• Own team planning, prioritization, resource allocation, delivery commitments, and production follow-through.
• Guide architecture for document ingestion, OCR, classification, extraction, state tracking, delivery, and external integrations.
• Improve CI/CD, release management, automated testing, observability, incident response, and blameless post-incident learning.
• Support responsible adoption of AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools, including review of generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot cross-service production issues and communicate delivery risks, tradeoffs, estimates, and operational health to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Approximately 8+ years of professional software development experience and at least 2 years leading or managing software engineers delivering production software.
• Strong hands-on experience with C#/.NET, backend product engineering, APIs, event-driven and asynchronous processing, and cloud-service integration.
• Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, preferably AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, S3, and DynamoDB; strong Azure experience may substitute.
• Experience supporting business-critical production services, including triage, impact assessment, rollback planning, and escalation.
• Strong leadership, communication, coaching, hiring, onboarding, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with document processing, OCR, classification, extraction, data ingestion, or event-driven data pipelines.
• Experience in tax, financial services, accounting, payments, or other regulated domains handling sensitive customer data.
• Experience managing mixed employee and contractor teams, distributed or nearshore teams, Kubernetes deployments, and observability tools such as Splunk, Datadog, or CloudWatch.
• Experience governing AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor.
