Memphis Associate Counsel - Liability

Location: Remote in the United States; the posting also identifies the position as hybrid. Travel is required for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

Annual salary: $104,550–$162,975.

What you will do

• Defend lawsuits filed in Tennessee courts and handle other first-party insurance defense matters.
• Research applicable law and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Provide opinions on liability, damages, and claim value for the Claims Department.
• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath.
• Defend assigned matters at trial or dispositive hearings.

Requirements

• 2–6+ years of related field litigation experience required.
• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Admission to the Tennessee Bar and an active license in good standing to practice law in Tennessee required.
• Meet and maintain applicable licensing and Continuing Legal Education requirements.
• Communicate clearly and professionally in written and verbal interactions.
• Manage complex instructions, conflict resolution, organization, prioritization, and multiple matters.

Nice to have

• Civil litigation experience.
• Insurance defense-related litigation experience.
