Distinguished Technologist (AI/ML)

Location: Garching, Bavaria, Germany, or Sunnyvale/Northridge, California, United States. Hybrid schedule with regular in-office collaboration; most office-based roles are onsite three days per week. Occasional domestic and international travel to customer sites, manufacturing locations, and product launch meetings is required.

Annual gross base salary: €212,500–€275,000.

What you will do

• Serve as a senior technical authority and provide independent judgment on strategically important technologies and architectures.
• Translate technology strategy into technical hypotheses, architectures, experiments, and capability-building programs.
• Lead advanced-technology initiatives from early exploration through technical and business viability and transition into business units.
• Identify technical discontinuities and opportunities affecting hirify.global’s future competitiveness.
• Build strategic technology capabilities and lead high-caliber teams across hirify.global, Samsung, research organizations, startups, academia, and external partners.
• Advise technology and business leaders on build, partner, acquire, and experiment decisions.

Requirements

• Exceptional hands-on technical depth across relevant domains such as physics, software, AI, machine learning, acoustics, materials science, or signal processing.
• Experience creating significant technologies, architectures, platforms, or products, together with experience spanning research or advanced development and industrial-scale productization.
• Broad systems thinking across software, hardware, physical systems, embedded systems, UX/HMI, audio, sensing, compute, connectivity, and multi-physics systems.
• Significant technology leadership experience, including leading senior engineers, scientists, and technical leaders across organizational boundaries.
• Strong commercial judgment, scientific and engineering rigor, communication skills, and the ability to work with technical and business stakeholders.
• Successful completion of a post-offer background investigation and drug screen is required.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience across automotive, consumer electronics, professional audio/video, or adjacent technology markets.
• Experience in both large global corporations and technology companies, startups, or entrepreneurial environments.
• Experience with external research ecosystems, academia, startups, strategic technology partners, and international cross-cultural leadership.
