AI/ML Integration Technologist (Battery Mfg)

Location: Dearborn, Michigan, United States; hybrid with a requirement to be onsite four or more days per week

Base salary: $132,800–$250,800 per year

Ford Energy, a wholly owned hirify.global subsidiary, designs, manufactures, and services grid-scale and commercial battery energy storage systems while developing AI capabilities for battery manufacturing.

What you will do

• Own the AI roadmap for battery manufacturing, prioritizing pilots, scaled solutions, and retirements based on yield, quality, cost, and launch speed.
• Benchmark AI capabilities across Ford battery sites and external cell makers, suppliers, semiconductor companies, and coating specialists.
• Build proofs of concept and reference architectures for formation and aging optimization, inline coating and defect vision, yield genealogy, and predictive maintenance.
• Define data, labeling, and model standards that enable reuse across manufacturing plants.
• Evaluate vendors, guide embedded engineers, and align IT and OT teams on security and scalability.
• Apply generative and agentic AI, including copilots and workflow agents, to engineering and plant workflows where appropriate.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 10+ years of experience, including several years applying AI or ML to real production or process systems.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing or process data, including multivariate and time-series data, SPC, design of experiments, and inline vision.
• Ability to work with process and controls engineers and lead technical ML direction.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; employment eligibility verification is required.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in AI, ML, data science, or computer science.
• Battery cell, semiconductor fabrication, or roll-to-roll coating experience.
• Cloud ML experience with GCP or Azure.
• Familiarity with LangGraph, ADK, AutoGen, or MCP for workflow automation.
