Location: Onsite, primarily from an HPE office in the United States; the salary range specifically covers California

Salary: USD 194,000–412,500 annual base salary in California; variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end assurance architecture covering telemetry normalization, correlation, root-cause analysis, guarded remediation, and outcome verification.
• Define a shared model spanning intent, topology, configuration, identity, policy, and operational state.
• Architect planning and tool-use agents, MCP tool servers, and multi-agent orchestration across networking domains.
• Design safety controls including approval gates, policy enforcement, remediation tiers, blast-radius limits, and deterministic rollback.
• Establish evaluation practices using fault corpora, replayable incident harnesses, MTTR, and false-escalation metrics.
• Drive strategy across business units, influence executive and product stakeholders, and mentor senior technical leaders.

Requirements

• 15+ years of engineering and architectural leadership building and operating large distributed systems in production.
• Broad networking experience across campus, data center, WAN/SD-WAN, and security, with deep expertise in at least three areas.
• Strong knowledge of EVPN-VXLAN, BGP, SAI-level behavior, overlay/underlay networking, identity and policy enforcement, and gNMI/OpenConfig telemetry.
• Experience with graph modeling and algorithms, LLM agents, tool calling, MCP, agent evaluation, classical machine learning, and time-series modeling.
• Production AIOps or observability experience, plus cloud-native systems using Kubernetes, microservices, Kafka, time-series or OLAP stores, and hybrid or public cloud.
• Strong hands-on Python and Go coding skills, principal or distinguished-level impact across multiple organizations, and a bachelor's, master's, or PhD preferred.
