Associate Director, Bioanalytical Laboratory (Immunoassay)

Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA. Traditional office environment with periodic work alongside laboratory personnel and limited travel.

Annual base salary: $151,400–$236,600, with potential additional discretionary or non-discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Plan, organize, and direct laboratory resources supporting assay validations and bioanalytical sample analysis.
• Provide technical guidance on immunoassay methods developed and used on the MSD platform.
• Maintain laboratory procedures, information systems, documentation, and processes compliant with GLP and GCLP requirements.
• Lead staff training, performance management, development planning, hiring, orientation, and succession planning.
• Coordinate daily laboratory operations, including testing schedules, staffing, quality control, safety, and SOP compliance.
• Support laboratory budgets, business planning, customer meetings, professional conferences, and presentation of project results.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline preferred; a master’s degree may be substituted with additional relevant experience.
• At least 8 years of industrial immunoassay development or GLP/GCLP bioanalytical sample-testing experience with increasing responsibility.
• At least 4 years managing biomarker development or bioanalytical sample-testing projects and associated resources.
• Training and experience with GLP/GCLP are required.
• Expertise in immunoassay validation, laboratory operations, data review and analysis, quality systems, and laboratory information systems.
• Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, communication, presentation, training, and problem-solving skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
