Associate Director, Global Proteomics

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States of America; onsite

Base pay: $137,000–$235,750 per year, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead Global Proteomics, a platform within the Discovery Proteomic Platforms group.
• Manage and develop wet-lab scientists while building a culture focused on scientific excellence, safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
• Plan, oversee, and perform proteomics studies for target identification and validation, mechanism-of-action elucidation, biomarker discovery, and therapeutic optimization.
• Establish delivery frameworks, service-level agreements, cycle-time targets, and prioritization aligned with portfolio decisions.
• Partner with bioinformatics, data science, automation, engineering, and multiomics teams to deliver robust, FAIR, decision-ready data.
• Translate proteomics findings for scientists, executives, governance forums, and cross-functional program teams.

Requirements

• Doctorate in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on proteomics laboratory experience, including 4+ years in drug discovery.
• Experience leading mass spectrometry operations across people, platforms, and processes.
• Hands-on proficiency with LC and MS platforms, including Waters, Thermo, Evosep, Dionex, Bruker timsTOF, and Orbitrap systems.
• Experience with automated, plate-based proteomics workflows and collaboration with automation and engineering specialists.
• Strong program coordination, portfolio management, communication, and AI-enabled mass spectrometry data analysis skills.

Nice to have

• Experience leading a shared platform or centralized capability in a matrixed R&D organization.
• Exposure to single-cell proteomics, spatial proteomics, protein–protein interaction mapping, or limited-sample workflows.
• Publications, patents, or presentations at ASMS or HUPO.
• Knowledge of discovery quality systems, LIMS, and FAIR data principles.
