Senior Data Scientist (SC Cleared)

Location: Any UK office hub: Bristol, London, Manchester, or Swansea. Part-time remote working is available for staff.

Salary: £49,500–£75,000 per year

What you will do

• Work directly with public sector clients, users, and data engineers to understand data and deliver actionable insights.
• Shape client data strategies and develop end-to-end data science and machine learning solutions.
• Perform exploratory data analysis, model evaluation, feature engineering, and model deployment.
• Advise clients on data science practices and help establish effective data science environments.
• Share knowledge, upskill client teams, participate in hiring, and contribute to the development of the data science capability.
• Line-manage team members up to mid-level.

Requirements

• Current SC clearance is ideal; all successful candidates must be eligible for SC clearance.
• SC eligibility requires five years of UK residency.
• Strong knowledge of linear algebra, statistics, classification, regression, unsupervised learning, and matrix factorisation.
• Good working knowledge of Python and its data science ecosystem, including NumPy, SciPy, pandas, scikit-learn, and Matplotlib.
• Experience implementing end-to-end ML pipelines, deep learning with TensorFlow or PyTorch, NLP, document processing, and model selection and evaluation.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, along with strong communication, presentation, mentoring, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Consultancy experience and experience working with public sector organisations.
• Agile experience with Pairing, Scrum, XP, or Kanban.
• Experience integrating data with data engineering teams and working in multidisciplinary technology teams.
• GitHub or Bitbucket knowledge and experience with SparkML.
