Staff Software Engineer (Auth/Accounts)

Location: Remote from the United States

Salary: $158,900–$234,125 per year, depending on geographic market and qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead architecture and delivery initiatives across authentication, authorization, account lifecycles, and partner relationships.
• Define API contracts, data models, migration paths, rollout strategies, and multi-service technical direction.
• Translate product, security, and business requirements into clear designs while coordinating cross-functional dependencies.
• Build scalable backend services and improve testing, observability, deployment safety, and operational reliability.
• Mentor engineers across teams and raise technical design and operating standards.

Requirements

• Staff-level experience guiding cross-team architecture and resolving high-impact technical trade-offs.
• Expertise in API design, distributed systems, data modeling, and production operations.
• Experience solving high-stakes problems where security, correctness, and performance are critical.
• Ability to write clear design documents, align non-technical stakeholders, and mentor senior engineers.
• Ability to integrate AI tools into engineering workflows and critically review their output for security-sensitive systems.
• Must be located in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with OAuth, OIDC, JWTs, RBAC, ReBAC, or OpenFGA.
• Proficiency with Go, Python, Kafka or other event-driven systems, AWS, and modern CI/CD.
• Experience in cybersecurity, fintech, insurtech, or complex partner integration platforms.
• Experience creating AI-assisted engineering workflows or applying AI responsibly in regulated environments.
