Software Engineer, Trust & Safety (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA, or San Francisco, California, USA. Hybrid work with four days per week in the office and Fridays from home for employees near an office.

Base salary: $117,000–$184,000 USD per year, depending on location, skills, qualifications, and experience. Full-time employees may also be eligible for bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership while modernizing a platform within Trust & Safety.
• Design, develop, test, refactor, and scale backend implementations for consumer product features.
• Design and build resilient APIs with the mobile engineering team.
• Define system architecture, implement APIs, and lead key projects from end to end.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and multifunctional teams to solve member problems.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, performance, and engineering standards; participate in the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of production software development experience at scale.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails or comparable frameworks.
• Experience working with transactional databases and caching systems.
• Exposure to architectural patterns used in large, high-scale web applications.
• Commitment to maintainable, well-tested code and willingness to investigate systems in depth.
• Ability to work in Chicago or San Francisco under the hybrid office policy.
