Electrical Construction Estimator

Location: Rochester, NY. Primarily office-based with regular field visits to construction and industrial sites; local travel is required.

Hourly rate: $40.00–$60.00, with potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Analyze bid packages and prepare detailed estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scopes.
• Perform takeoffs and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and multi-view drawings.
• Conduct site walks and client walkthroughs to validate scope, conditions, constructability, and installation methods.
• Coordinate with construction managers, engineers, field electricians, manufacturers, vendors, inspectors, and regulatory authorities.
• Manage vendor quotes, material specifications, procurement strategies, delivery planning, schedule alignment, labor planning, and cost tracking.
• Document assumptions and revisions while improving estimating accuracy, cost efficiency, and standardization.

Requirements

• 7+ years of electrical field construction experience and 3+ years of electrical estimating experience.
• Hands-on knowledge of power distribution, instrumentation, control wiring, and electrical material sourcing.
• Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and multi-view drawings.
• Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70 and OSHA standards, including safety considerations such as LOTO and arc flash.
• Experience with estimating tools and Microsoft Office; strong organization, analytical thinking, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for site visits.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
