Gear Machining Tooling Engineer (CNC)

What you will do

• Develop tooling and support CNC machining processes for gear machining launch programs.
• Implement tool tracking, identify tool-dominant features, and establish appropriate controls.
• Drive improvements in safety, quality, productivity, process capability, and variability reduction.
• Complete PPAP documentation, create process and instruction sheets, and support quality launch activities.
• Investigate internal and supplier issues, verify corrective actions, and lead process audits.
• Support lean manufacturing initiatives and compliance with plant, corporate, governmental, environmental, and ISO 14001 standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in CNC machining manufacturing.
• Experience with tooling, CNC equipment, CNC mills, and high-production machining tool manufacturing.
• Experience with gear blade grinding.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Availability to work onsite in Dearborn, Michigan.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree.
• Lean Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Experience programming Royal or Zoller tool presetters.
• Experience with 8D, 5 Why, 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, Value Stream Mapping, DMAIC, and DMADV.
• Experience with FMEA, PPAP, and DOE.
