IT Security Specialist (AI Security)

Location: Remote within the United States; the salary range applies to possible locations across the country.

Starting salary: $85,000–$105,000 per year, depending on location, experience, and skills.

What you will do

• Own security for the Mac fleet, including Jamf, compliance, monitoring, alert investigation, malware response, and device remediation.
• Manage Okta-based identity and access controls, including adaptive MFA, SSO, application assignments, access scopes, and joiner, mover, and leaver processes.
• Partner with People, Legal, and Infrastructure on provisioning, offboarding, access removal, archival, legal holds, and lifecycle automation.
• Maintain security controls for Google Workspace, SaaS applications, collaboration tools, email, data protection, monitoring, vendor reviews, and procurement assessments.
• Investigate suspicious activity using endpoint, browser, identity, Google Workspace, and SaaS logs, and support incident response.
• Protect journalists, executives, and other high-risk users through privacy, account-security, and personal-data safeguards.

Requirements

• Substantial experience in IT security, endpoint security, identity and access management, systems administration, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with macOS, Jamf or comparable endpoint platforms, CrowdStrike Falcon, Okta or a similar identity provider, and Google Workspace security.
• Understanding of security boundaries across browsers, SaaS applications, identity providers, endpoints, APIs, data flows, and AI-enabled systems.
• Experience with security logging, monitoring, incident investigation, vendor assessments, and SaaS risk management.
• Experience operating or improving security awareness, phishing, or role-specific training programs.
• Ability to evaluate risk in the context of real-world workflows, users, business requirements, and operational constraints.

Nice to have

• Experience developing AI security policies and reviewing AI tools, automations, agents, or internally built solutions.
• Experience designing targeted security training for newsrooms, journalists, business teams, and technical teams.
