Strategic Sourcing Manager, Mechanical Components (Automotive)

Location: Foster City, California, United States; hybrid workplace

Base salary: $129,000–$171,000 per year, excluding RSUs, stock appreciation rights, and possible sign-on bonus.

Zoox develops fully autonomous vehicles and the supporting ecosystem for mobility-as-a-service in urban environments, combining robotics, machine learning, and design.

What you will do

• Lead procurement and partnership initiatives for vehicle direct materials, including interiors, structural components, and advanced hardware.
• Build medium-term business and technology roadmaps with engineering, operations, manufacturing, strategy, finance, and design stakeholders.
• Develop a long-term supplier and partnership footprint for the vehicle development program.
• Manage supplier milestones, change orders, quality assurance, cost control, and performance assessments.
• Lead supplier research, RFQ and quote-package analysis, negotiations, contract coverage, and commercial issue resolution.
• Identify sourcing alternatives, benchmark suppliers, and develop total cost of ownership models to improve efficiency.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in partnership development or purchasing within a hardware product environment.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience with strategic sourcing, financial and business opportunity analysis, legal frameworks, and contract negotiation.
• Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, legal, finance, manufacturing, logistics, and executive leadership.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and expertise in drive modules, powertrain, chassis, or body components.
