Head of Growth Data Science (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, United States; full-time and based in San Francisco

Base salary: $300K–$320K annually, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the Growth Data Science team and act as a strategic data partner to Growth, Product, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and regional business leaders.
• Define trusted measurement frameworks and analyze the full growth funnel, including acquisition, activation, conversion, retention, and expansion.
• Develop segmentation, propensity, attribution, optimization, forecasting, and planning models to improve growth investment and operating decisions.
• Build experimentation frameworks and establish best practices for experiment design, causal inference, measurement, and interpretation.
• Develop metrics, dashboards, intelligent analytics tools, and Generative AI applications that improve targeting and automate insight generation.
• Partner with engineering and data platform teams to productionize models and analytical products.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data science, analytics, quantitative strategy, or applied machine learning, including 5+ years leading high-performing technical teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Deep expertise in experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, applied machine learning, SQL, and Python or R.
• Experience with modern data platforms and tooling such as Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, or equivalent.
• Experience productionizing Generative AI applications, intelligent analytics tools, or agentic workflows.
• Ability to influence executive stakeholders and translate analytical insights into measurable business outcomes.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Econometrics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Experience in fintech, payments, financial services, or high-growth B2B SaaS.
• Experience with customer lifecycle analytics, marketing measurement, attribution, pricing, or sales optimization.
• Experience building data products or decision systems used by senior executives and cross-functional teams.
