Sr. Staff Data Scientist, Lending (Fintech)

Location: Mountain View, California or San Francisco, California, United States

Base pay: $210,500–$284,500 per year, with potential bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Set the analytics strategy for QuickBooks Capital across marketplace, partnership, and externalization initiatives.
• Translate business strategy into analytical problems, hypotheses, insights, and recommendations for business-unit decision-making.
• Design and lead complex experiments, including A/B/n, bandit, geo/holdout, painted-door, and quasi-experimental studies.
• Apply causal inference methods and develop reusable analytical frameworks, methodologies, and tools.
• Build customer segmentation and behavioral insights to improve targeting, positioning, and the lending application experience.
• Shape the lending AI roadmap, guide measurement and safety considerations, influence senior leaders, and mentor data scientists.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in data science and analytics, with demonstrated strategic impact across multiple initiatives or business units.
• Deep expertise in predictive and prescriptive modeling, causal inference, customer segmentation, and experimentation design.
• Experience with lending, credit cards, marketplaces, or other fintech domains is strongly preferred.
• Advanced SQL and hands-on experience with Python or R, Tableau, and data workflow management.
• Experience creating reusable frameworks adopted by broader analytics teams and influencing Director- and VP-level stakeholders.
• BS or MS in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Econometrics, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of underwriting, credit risk, and LTV modeling.
• Experience addressing growth challenges for consumer or SMB fintech products.
• Working knowledge of AI model performance metrics and the AI development lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience architecting generative AI workflows with tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
