Assistant Controller

Salary: $105,000–$125,000 annually

Established organization seeking accounting leadership to support accurate financial operations and reporting.

What you will do

• Manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account reviews.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related accounting, cash management, and payment approvals.
• Support monthly and annual GAAP financial statements, regulatory reporting, audits, grants, and restricted funding activities.
• Supervise, coach, and develop accounting team members while partnering with the Controller.
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Improve accounting systems and workflows through process automation and operational efficiency initiatives.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Previous supervisory or accounting leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, AP, AR, and reconciliations.
• Experience with ERP and financial systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and team-development skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with grants, restricted funds, or nonprofit accounting.
• CPA or CMA certification.
