Controller (SaaS)

Location: South San Francisco, California, United States; hybrid schedule with 2 days per week in the South San Francisco office.

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 per year, plus benefits and stock options.

What you will do

• Direct general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and month-, quarter-, and year-end close activities.
• Manage revenue recognition under ASC 606/IFRS 15 across recurring and services revenue, partnering with Revenue Operations and Legal on contract terms.
• Prepare financial statements for management, investors, and auditors.
• Own Budget v Actual reporting, maintain the operating financial model with the CFO, test assumptions, and support forecasting.
• Manage NetSuite, Bill, Avalara, and related finance systems, ensuring accurate integrations and data flow.
• Build scalable controls and processes, manage tax and audit providers, oversee cash and risk management, and develop the accounting team.

Requirements

• Based in the San Francisco area and able to work 2 days per week from the South San Francisco office.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; a master’s degree or CPA is preferred.
• Controller experience in SaaS or recurring-revenue businesses with strong knowledge of ASC 606/IFRS 15.
• Advanced experience with NetSuite, Bill, and related accounting and finance systems.
• Experience with complex contracts, invoicing, mixed revenue types, multiple SOWs, and the full contract-to-revenue lifecycle.
• Hands-on FP&A experience, including Budget v Actual reporting, forecasting, financial modeling, team leadership, and process improvement.
