Senior Controls Engineer (Automation)

Location: Hartselle, Alabama, USA; travel to branch plants and vendor sites may be required.

Annual base salary: $122,320–$137,610 for Engineer IV or $138,320–$155,610 for Engineer V, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead electrical and controls design for customized automation solutions across the Reels Division.
• Design control systems using EPLAN and develop reliable PLC programs in Studio5000.
• Develop HMI applications with integrated alarms, messaging, automated data collection, and reliability tracking.
• Support panel fabrication, shop testing, installation, field support, troubleshooting, and complex system testing.
• Manage automation projects, budgets, schedules, change management, intellectual property security, and external resources.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Supply Management, OEMs, plant teams, and leadership on continuous improvement and new equipment projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 8–10 years of experience in controls and automation design.
• Experience with electrical control system design software; EPLAN is preferred.
• Experience with PLC and HMI programming; Studio5000 and Maple Systems are preferred.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, equipment troubleshooting, system testing, and lean control panel fabrication.
• Ability to define problems, analyze data, communicate effectively, collaborate across functions, and work in high-pressure environments.

Nice to have

• FANUC robotics programming experience.
• Cognex or Keyence vision system development experience.
• Ignition or similar SCADA experience.
