Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineer (Tool Design)

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, AMF South; onsite. Employees work 10-hour days, 4 days a week. Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance is required; security clearances may only be granted to US citizens.

What you will do

• Define requirements for manual and semi-automated tooling, including jigs, fixtures, molds, mandrels, and lifting devices.
• Design tooling in PTC Creo and Windchill using design-for-manufacturability principles.
• Perform finite element analysis to predict internal stresses and resolve structural instabilities.
• Lead design reviews with cross-functional teams and support tool approval.
• Oversee tooling procurement, fabrication, functional evaluations, and acceptance.
• Provide maintenance liaison support by identifying tool problems, designing repairs, and implementing modifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, or a graduate degree with 0–2 years of experience.
• In lieu of a degree, at least 6 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience applying GD&T and system tolerance analysis.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance; eligibility is limited to US citizens.
• Willingness to travel approximately 5%.

Nice to have

• Experience with Siemens NX, ANSYS, or tooling fabrication.
• Composite wind tool or compression mold tool design and fabrication experience.
• Existing security clearance.
• Experience in the defense industry.
