Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and qualifying mechanical systems for satellite, spacecraft, UAV, launch vehicle, and other aerospace communication products with an accent on electronics packaging, thermal management, CAD, and environmental qualification. Focus on performing FEA, thermal, shock, vibration, and EMI/EMC analyses, integrating designs with aircraft systems, and leading design reviews through manufacturing, testing, and field support.

What you will do

  • Design mechanical systems for aerospace communication products from concept and requirements definition through detailed design, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and field support.
  • Develop electronics packaging, thermal management, aircraft mechanical interfaces, and ruggedized embedded electronics solutions.
  • Perform mechanical simulations and analyses, including thermal, finite element, shock, vibration, stress dynamics, environmental compatibility, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
  • Apply GD&T, precision machining, design-for-test, manufacturability, assembly, reliability, and cost-analysis principles.
  • Present engineering design reviews to customers and leadership and contribute to proposal writing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 12 years of industry experience in avionics or ruggedized embedded electronics packaging, aircraft structures, or mechanisms, including thermal, vibration, and stress analysis.
  • Experience with electronics assemblies and close collaboration with electrical engineers.
  • Professional experience with CAD and FEA tools such as SolidWorks and Ansys, plus CNC manufacturing.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and design for test, manufacturability, assembly, and reliability.
  • Must meet U.S. Government space technology export-control eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-person status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorization.

Nice to have

  • Aerospace design, development, and qualification experience.
  • Technical leadership on a program or project.
  • Aircraft or airframe integration experience.
  • FAA certification experience against DO-160G or environmental qualification experience against MIL-STD-810.
