Commissioning Technician (Building Systems)

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The role requires a strong field presence, approximately 40–50% regional travel throughout the Southwest, occasional nights and weekends, and the ability to travel with little notice.

Salary: $68,880–$103,320; hourly pay type.

What you will do

• Support commissioning and retro-commissioning projects for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, fire and life-safety, and building automation systems.
• Review drawings, specifications, equipment submittals, and construction plans; maintain records of comments.
• Create equipment checklists, pre-functional and functional performance tests, site observation reports, and final reports.
• Perform field observations, testing, adjusting and balancing, troubleshooting, and equipment condition assessments.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, owners, facility personnel, and project teams to verify system performance.
• Set up project documentation, manage resources and budgets, and maintain client relationships.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural engineering, or four or more years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree; high school diploma or GED required.
• Understanding of commercial and institutional mechanical and electrical systems, building automation, HVAC, plumbing, fire alarm and life-safety systems, lighting controls, and testing and balancing.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, ACG, and LEED commissioning requirements and the ability to read drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam.
• Valid driver’s license, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently with supervision and mentoring as needed.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; employment eligibility verification is required.

Nice to have

• Commissioning certification, NEBB TAB Technician certification, or previous commissioning and testing and balancing experience.
• Mechanical or electrical engineering degree and Fundamentals of Engineering certification.
• Experience with DDC controls programming, controls project management, or building automation systems.
• Experience supporting large commercial, hospitality, retail, education, or mission-critical projects.
• Experience with commissioning firms, engineering consultancies, controls contractors, or TAB companies.
