Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Remote from Brazil or Colombia; availability to work until 3:00 PM CST required.

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and review backend applications and services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build RESTful APIs and scalable microservices-based backend solutions.
• Develop event-driven and distributed applications with Kafka.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL queries and implement data persistence with JPA.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams on requirements, architecture decisions, code reviews, and CI/CD improvements.

Requirements

• Professional Java experience with strong hands-on expertise in Spring Web, Spring Boot, REST APIs, application security, and microservices architecture.
• Strong experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch or SOLR, AWS, JPA, and PostgreSQL, including complex SQL query optimization.
• Experience with IntelliJ IDEA, Git, JIRA, Docker, and Maven.
• In-depth understanding of SDLC and CI/CD processes, software design patterns, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
• Upper-Intermediate English proficiency and availability to work until 3:00 PM CST.

Nice to have

• Experience in e-commerce environments or with Broadleaf Commerce.
• Experience with large-scale distributed backend systems.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and cloud-native application development.
