Focus on designing distributed systems, diagnosing collection issues, contributing to OpenTelemetry, and solving performance and footprint challenges at AWS scale.

hirify.global develops AWS CloudWatch, a large-scale observability platform for monitoring logs, metrics, events, applications, and infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and maintain highly available, massively scaled CloudWatch telemetry collection systems.
  • Develop and operate collection agents written in Rust and Go for hosts and containers across AWS Regions.
  • Investigate root causes of collection and reliability issues, implement fixes, and prevent recurrence.
  • Translate customer and internal requirements into designs, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver incremental features.
  • Contribute changes to OpenTelemetry and engage with upstream open-source communities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with senior and principal engineers.

Requirements

  • Professional software development experience outside internships.
  • Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
  • Strong programming skills in at least two of Rust, Go, Java, C++, and Python.
  • Experience across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, collaborative engineering team.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • Open-source contributions or demonstrated enthusiasm, including work with OpenTelemetry.
