Product Manager, Billing (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY; hybrid policy requires staff to work from an office at least 25% of the time

What you will do

• Define the product strategy and roadmap for Claude billing, purchasing, subscriptions, invoices, usage, and spend controls.
• Improve purchase, upgrade, and plan-change flows while balancing conversion, clarity, trust, and retention.
• Design agentic billing experiences that answer questions, resolve issues, and take billing actions with appropriate confirmation steps.
• Partner with Engineering, Design, Growth, Trust & Safety, Support, and Finance across consumer, developer, team, and enterprise use cases.
• Prevent abuse of plans, credits, and free trials without adding unnecessary friction for legitimate customers.
• Communicate prioritization and tradeoffs clearly to senior leadership.

Requirements

• 7+ years of product management experience, including self-serve purchase, subscription, or billing products.
• Experience owning conversion and retention metrics and running experiments to improve them.
• Strong product design judgment, including the ability to explain proration, overage, and credits clearly.
• Experience building LLM-powered or agentic product features and deciding when an agent should act or request confirmation.
• Ability to discuss system design with engineers, abuse patterns with Trust & Safety, and funnels with Growth.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• Experience with usage-based or hybrid pricing, usage dashboards, spend limits, and alerts.
• Experience preventing abuse of plans, credits, or free trials.
• Experience launching products in new countries with local pricing, tax, and currency.
• Experience building self-serve billing support tools or scaling through hypergrowth.
