Sr DevSecOps Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Fort Meade, Maryland; two days per week on-site and must be local to Maryland

Salary: $75/hour on W2 during the six-month contract-to-hire period; conversion salary up to $145,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design declarative GitOps CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI and GitHub Actions.
• Integrate SAST, DAST, container scanning, dependency scanning, and SBOM generation into automated pipelines.
• Automate policy-as-code compliance gates for DoDI 8430, OSD CIO cATO requirements, pipeline attestation, and continuous authorization.
• Develop hardened Dockerfiles, remediate CVEs, automate OpenSCAP and STIG validation, and move containers through Iron Bank and Repo One certification workflows.
• Architect and refactor microservices using Go, Python, Java, or Rust.
• Build automated unit, integration, and contract tests following 12-factor application principles.

Requirements

• Active DoD Secret clearance or higher required.
• Must be local to Maryland and able to work on-site at Fort Meade as required.
• At least three years of professional experience in DevSecOps, DevOps, systems engineering, or a related field.
• Experience administering and configuring Red Hat Enterprise Linux and using Ansible for configuration management and automation.
• Strong Bash and Python scripting skills.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions and integrating security testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with DoD Software Factories such as Platform One, Kessel Run, or the Army Software Factory.
• Iron Bank onboarding, Repo One merge requests, VAT findings, and automated container hardening experience.
• Knowledge of the DoD Enterprise DevSecOps Reference Design and CNSSI requirements.
