Polymer Engineering Co-Op Placement 2027 (MedTech)

Location: Full-time onsite at hirify.global Manufacturing, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Ireland. Placement duration: 6 to 9 months.

What you will do

• Support polymer material characterisation and performance analysis.
• Optimise extrusion processes and conduct process-capability studies.
• Investigate extrusion and component-quality defects through root-cause analysis.
• Implement corrective actions and continuous-improvement initiatives to reduce polymer scrap, waste, and manufacturing inefficiencies.
• Evaluate alternative polymer materials and suppliers, analyse process data, and prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, NPI, and Supplier Quality teams.

Requirements

• Currently studying Polymer Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Interest in polymer processing, extrusion technology, materials engineering, and regulated manufacturing.
• Ability to apply statistical analysis, process-capability assessment, engineering problem-solving, and root-cause investigation.
• Willingness to complete safety, GMP, quality-system, and compliance training.
